NCAH59M Audio Mixing Essentials

with Bob Desmarais

Designed for those who have completed the Audio Engineering course (NCMI57) or for experienced home studio owners, this 4-week course focuses on essential mixing concepts using real world examples. Students will participate in actual mixing sessions to gain experience and knowledge in a variety musical genres, from voice to full band recordings.

Note: Prospective students that have not completed the Audio Engineering course (NCMI57) are expected to understand the concepts and application of compression, EQ, gating, time-based and modulation effects, and the entire signal path including the use of insert vs. send routing.

  • Learn how to create release-quality mixes from your home studio.
  • Study gating, compression, EQ, and their usefulness within the mix.
  • Learn how to apply effects that enhance the mix.
  • Attain a wide range of mixing of experience by participating in mixing sessions that span multiple musical genres.

Bob Desmarais owns and runs NHTunes, A 1,800+ sq ft studio located in the Waumbec Mill which specializes in audio recording and piano, voice, and guitar lessons. A member of the Audio Engineering Society, Bob has been playing guitar professionally for nearly thirty years, and has been recording bands and soloists for nearly a decade. He currently performs in the acoustic duo Sonic Boomers. He has an MBA from SNHU, and a Guitar Certificate from Berklee College of Music.
