NCEL034M Intermediate II: Academic Paragraph Writing & Vocabulary

This next level intermediate course is a continuation of the Intermediate I level. Students will write short essays of three paragraphs or more, using the process approach method. Writing and grammar will be focused on mastering the simple verb and sentence structures. Reading skills and vocabulary will be developed through primarily non-fiction texts. Students will integrate paragraphs with supporting details and examples from the readings into the short essays.

Prerequisite: Students are required to take a reading and writing placement assessment to participate in this non-credit ESOL class. Also, Workforce Development and Academic Success Center staff discretion is taken under advisement.
WDC ESOL Writing & Reading Placement Assessment includes:
- Part 1: Three reading prompts, completing the multiple choice or true/false questions for each.
- Part 2: Choose one of the writing prompts and write a minimum of a 300 word essay.
