Data Visualization Microcredential

According to LinkedIn Learning research, new graduates – defined as people six months out of college or less – disproportionately learn data visualization. While this speaks to an immediate need new graduates face, mastering this skill early will give everyone a huge edge in the workforce. Because today, data visualization is becoming an absolute must-learn skill. As all organizations become increasingly data-driven, the ability to work with data isn’t a bonus, it’s essential. This non-credit microcredential includes three courses: Tableau Desktop I, II, III at a 15% savings off the regular price. 

 It is highly recommended to use two monitors for this class. 

Technical requirements:

  • 2 GB memory
  • 1.5 GB minimum free disk space

Mac

  • iMac/MacBook computers 2009 or newer
  • macOS High Sierra 10.13, macOS Mojave 10.14 and macOS Catalina 10.15
  • 1.5 GB minimum free disk space

What you'll need:

Tableau Desktop Certified Associate - Intermediate

Final registration and $1,100.00 payment will be due once we have enough interest to conduct the class.

Students will learn to filter across data sources and analyze subsets of data using context filters and sets. They'll go further with calculations, using LOD expressions and specifying options to control table calculations, and they will do more with mapping. To enable analysis, students will create parameters and user controls, and show data trends and forecasts, as well as data distributions. Students will round out their skills by designing dashboards that incorporate visual best practices.

Prerequisites: Desktop I and/or equivalent experience. The use of two monitors is highly recommended.

Tableau Desktop Certified Professional - Advanced

Final registration and $1,100.00 payment will be due once we have enough interest to conduct the class.

In this course, students will acquire advanced analytical skills and chart-building techniques in Tableau Desktop. They will reinforce calculations knowledge, then explore the LOD expressions FIXED, INCLUDE, and EXCLUDE. To expand their range of analysis, students will create sparklines and control charts to show time-based data; cycle plots to show seasonality trends; hexbins to map dense data; and geospatial maps that plot shapes using spatial files. Not least, students will master dashboard layouts and use context filters to guide their analysis within the dashboard.

Prerequisites: Desktop I: Fundamentals and Desktop II: Intermediate, and/or equivalent experience
