Demonstrates knowledge and skills in areas of science relevant to the pharmacy technician’s role, including anatomy/physiology and pharmacology.

Compares and contrasts the roles of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in ensuring pharmacy department compliance with professional standards and relevant legal, regulatory, formulary, contractual, and safety requirements.

Prepares medications requiring compounding of sterile and chemotherapy/hazardous products. Prepares medications requiring compounding of nonsterile products. Applies patient- and medication-safety practices in all aspects of the pharmacy technician’s role. Utilizes quality assurance practices with pharmaceuticals, durable and nondurable medical equipment, devices, and supplies.

Processes and handles medications and medication orders. Employs accepted procedures in purchasing pharmaceuticals, devices, and supplies. Initiates, verifies and assists in the adjudication of billing for pharmacy services and goods, and collects payment for these services.

Describes the use of current technology in the healthcare environment to ensure the safety and accuracy of medication dispensing.

Prepares patients for dental treatments. Identifies necessary materials and instruments for various types of dental treatments and how to clean and sterilize them.  Assists the dentist and/or dental hygienist by performing tasks such as handing them the proper equipment, using suction hoses to keep a patient's mouths dry, processing X-rays, properly noting dental charts, and dealing with emergency situations.

Advises patients how to maintain proper dental hygiene.  Learns proper techniques to avoid the transmission of disease in the dental environment and learns the various types of anesthesia used.

Assists the dentist and/or dental hygienist during various types of composite restoration procedures and with the creation of crowns, bridges, inlays, onlays, and dentures. Identifies and explains different instruments and procedures used in the specialty dental fields of endodontics, periodontics, pediatrics, orthodontics, prosthodontics, and oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Schedules and views appointments, maintains billing records, processes insurance claims, maintains employee time cards, adheres to confidentiality requirements, and creates e-claims using dental software.

Describes how to follow HIPPA requirements. Learns the process of an OSHA site visit.

NCMI123M Security Alarm Technician

Purpose: The ever changing field of facility security requires technicians that are well versed in basic electronics, computer software applications, input/output wiring and knowledge of a variety of devices.

Course Layout:

Day 1:    Alarm panel basics for power supplies, inputs and outputs.

Day 2:    Quick-loader computer software for panel programming

Day 3:    Central Station setup and communication

Day 4:    Door access controllers

Day 5:    Special Devices

Each session will be allotted 4 hours. Structure will be a 1 hour class, short break followed by a 3 hour lab session

Requirements for Class:  Students will be required to supply the following

  •  Small diagonal cutters (5-6 inch)
  •  Long nose pliers (small point)
  •  Wire strippers (18GA to 24GA)
  •  #2 Phillips screwdrivers
  •  Slotted screwdriver(s)
  •  Small slotted and Phillips screwdrivers (such as Ideal 35-1301) 
  •  Multi-meter (must measure DC current, AC/DC voltage, resistance)                                                  

 

NCMI82M Audio Engineering & Mixing Externship 1

The Audio Engineering Certificate is an ideal introductory program for those considering a career in audio. This non-credit certificate program prepares students for traditional study at a four-year university, or allows them to gain real-world experience in a modern recording studio, so they may apply for paid internships at studios or perhaps open their own recording studio. The program blends class time with an externship program to give students real-world experience in a modern recording facility.

36 hours of time spent at NHTunes recording studio in Manchester's Millyard. Students learn the in's and out's of running a music studio, and shadow on mixing and recording sessions.

Externship applicants must go through an interview process before being accepted into the externship program.
